Farmers Markets & Hubs
Farmers Market - a designated area where farm food producers and value-added processors from a designated region gather on a consistently scheduled basis to sell approved farm food and value-added products from approved sources directly to the purchaser
Farmers Market Hub - a designated area where farm food and value-added products from approved sources are sold on a consignment basis for farm food producers.
*An extension of the farmers market. The farmers market hub was created as a solution to help farmers spend more time producing food and less time at the market, a hub allows a designated representative to sell products for the producers on consignment.
Checklist for registering a farmers market with ODAFF:
This is an annual registration. All registrations expire December 31 every year.
1. A complete application submitted to ODAFF
2. Letters of intent or vendor contracts from a minimum of four independent vendors of raw food products (produce, meat, eggs, milk, honey, nuts, food-bearing plants) submitted to ODAFF
3. A copy of guidelines or bylaws submitted to ODAFF
4. Open at least one day of the week and at least four months of the year
5. Open to the general public for purchase of products
6. Sales are only direct to purchasers from the farm food producer or value-added processor
7. Compliance with all local, state and federal laws regarding retail sales including, but not limited to, tax compliance and all licensing from state and federal entities

6. Products are sold on consignment
7. Maintain separate sales logs for products sold on consignment for a minimum of two (2) years including, but not limited to, the following:
a. the name of the consigning farm food producer or value-added processor,
b. the address, telephone number and other contact information of the consigning farm food producer or value-added processor,
c. specific items sold on consignment, and
d. quantity of items sold on consignment;
8. Compliance with all local, state and federal laws regarding retail sales including, but not limited to, tax compliance and all licensing from state and federal entities
Register Your Farmers Market HubConsignment - the act of leaving goods with someone else to sell while retaining ownership until the goods are sold
The consignment fee is set by each individual farmers market hub
Ownership of consigned products remains with the farm food producer or value-added processor who produced the product until the product is sold to the purchaser
Display proper identification of the product and documentation of ingredients for any item on consignment including, but not limited to, the following:
name of the product,
business or farm name of the consigning farm food producer or value-added processor
address of where the product was grown or processed
